Our Top Tips For Staying Healthy At Work
With all the information and education on disinfecting to prevent the spread of COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2 and the Delta variant, you’re probably feeling more like a molecular biologist than a business owner by now! We get it – and some of us at Force of Nature are actually scientists, so if we’re overwhelmed, we can imagine everyone else is, too. Sometimes it helps to step back and think about the simple, common-sense ways we can keep ourselves, our teams, and our clients healthy at work without splitting hairs – or atoms! Here are some of our top tips for keeping your workplace happy and healthy.
5 Tips For Keeping Your Teams & Customers Healthy At Work
1. S-L-O-W Down and Communicate Clearly.
This is a lot. It’s a lot of information, a lot of change, a lot of stress, and a lot of work! So take a step back and think about your business, how your employees experience their day, how your customers experience your workplace and think about what really needs to change – and what you’re already doing right! People make mistakes when they feel stressed, so really thinking through your plan for staying healthy on the day-to-day operations of your business and communicating that calmly and clearly, can go a long way to helping your teams and clients feel cool, calm, and collected on the job – which means less stress and fewer mistakes in your protocol!
2. It’s All About the Plan
Okay so now you know why you have to do it – but how exactly do you put your plan together? Create checklists for disinfecting and cleaning so that your staff can take care of it routinely and systematically, no thinking (or freaking out!) required. For some resources, check out our blog on Tips For Disinfecting As Businesses Reopen and Our Top Tips & Tricks For Using Force of Nature For Your Business.
3. Know When to Clean, Sanitize & Disinfect
There’s a difference between cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting, which we go into in-depth in this blog post. The TLDR: clean first to remove physical debris and residue, and then disinfect, which means you are using an EPA-registered disinfectant like Force of Nature that kills 99.9% of viruses and bacteria and is on the EPA’s List N, the list of disinfectants approved for use against SARS-CoV-2, the cause of Covid-19. And good news – the EPA expects all products on List N to kill all strains and variants of SARS-CoV-2.
4. Check In On Mental Health
This is a big one. Think about the additional stress that’s been added to your life since you’ve potentially become a working parent/homeschool teacher/amateur industrial sanitizing team and, potentially, a sourdough bread-enthusiast! Your employees and clients are feeling it just as much. Make sure you take the time for yourself to check in on your mental health as well as doing so for your teams.
5. Pick Disinfectants with Safer Ingredients.
We are cleaning and disinfecting A LOT right now and many disinfectants contain ingredients that can be as harmful to your respiratory system as smoking a pack of cigarettes a day. Considering that the study that yielded this finding was done before we ramped up our disinfecting practices to COVID-19 levels, many of us are being exposed to these dangerous chemicals at unprecedented levels. When you consider which products you use, make sure you know the truth about your disinfectants and how they may put your employees and clients at risk.
Luckily, Force of Nature is certified 100% skin-safe and ideal for sensitive skin by SkinSAFE, Mayo Clinic’s allergy rating system and is Green Seal certified for environmental excellence. Our solution disinfects and kills 99.9% of viruses, yet is gentle enough to use on food prep surfaces without rinsing.
