You know that bottle of blue cleaner your parents used to clean your highchair when you were a baby? It’s still sitting in a landfill somewhere. And mull over this for a moment: research shows that
we eat about a credit card worth of plastic every year. Single-use plastic bottles are choaking landfills, our waters and seeping into our bodies.
What about the cleaning chemicals that go into those bottles? Take quaternary ammonium compounds (quats), one of the 2 most common disinfectant ingredients. They’ve been found in surface water, resevoirs and marine water worldwide. They’ve also been found in our blood systems and breast milk. Quats are linked to hormone-disruption, reproductive toxicity, asthma, and allegies across multiple studies.
How We’re Different
We created Force of Nature to end the compromise between cleaning and health, for people and our planet.
We’re putting an end to the toxic cleaning chemicals to flow into our water systems, and the single-use plastic bottles choking our landfills and oceans. We’ve taken a completely new approach to cleaning that sets a new standard in sustainability.
For a half a century, the only things that have changed in cleaning products are the scents, dyes, and detergents used. The vast majority of disinfectants on the market still contain quats or sodium hypochlorite (bleach) and come in single-use plastic bottles. The waste in producing, transporting, and disposing of all those bottles is staggering, and so are the health risks from all those toxic cleaning chemicals.
We’ve taken a brand new approach. Our appliances use electricity to convert regular tap water, plus a small recyclable capsule of salt, water & vinegar, into a multi-purpose cleaner, deodorizer and EPA registered disinfectant that kills 99.9% of germs. No single-use plastic bottles, no toxic chemicals.
Setting a New Standard in Sustainability for the Planet
1. By eliminating single-use plastic bottles and funding carbon offset projects, we’re the only certified Carbon Neutral EPA registered disinfectant and sanitizer. We invest in carbon offset projects to replace fossil energy with wind power around the world. Our system reduces the waste from typical bottled cleaning products by 10 times.
2. We’ve earned Green Seal certification for meeting the highest standards in protecting health, ensuring clean water, preserving the climate, and minimizing waste.
3. We’re a proud supporter of One Tree Planted, a nonprofit focused on forest restoration, biodiversity conservation, and ecological restoration. When our customers select One Tree Planted at checkout, we donate 1% to this amazing organization.
Setting a New Standard in Sustainability for People
DYK: Manufacturers aren’t required to test or assess the health impact of exposure to their products over time?
A host of recent studies have shown that chronic exposure to the 3 most common categories of cleaning chemicals – bleach, quaternary ammonia compounds, and fragrances – can:
- Cause lung damage equivalent to smoking a pack of cigarettes a day
- Increase the risk of COPD by up to 45%
- Increase the risk that pregnant women will have children with asthma by up to 70%
- Increase the risk of young children having asthma up to 50%
- Hypochlorous acid – The same substance your white blood cells produce to keep you healthy. It’s gentleness & efficacy are what make it commonly used in wound, healthcare, and veterinary care products. It kills 99.9% of viruses, bacteria, mold and mildew.
- Sodium hydroxide – a detergent used in products like toothpaste, skin moisturizers, and conventional cleaners. Our formula is different in that it contains a gentle concentration of just 0.0000003%.
You’ve probably never seen an unfragranced cleaning product (except Force of Nature!) – and the reason that matters is that fragrance chemicals are not required to be listed on product labels, so the word “fragrance” can hide a cocktail of more than 100 toxic ingredients. Studies have shown that more than 75% of products with fragrances contain these. The CDC reported that phthalates can be found in the blood of most Americans. They can act like hormones in the human body, which can cause a host of heath problems; they’ve been classified as carcinogens, hormone disruptors, neurotoxins, skin and respiratory irritants.
Setting a New Standard In Sustainability for Cleaning Products
We’re helping businesses, organizations, and homes put an end to single-use plastic bottle waste AND toxic chemicals. Our appliances change the molecular structure of salt, water & vinegar into 2 new toxin-free molecules:
How we’re different:
1. The only cleaning product recognized by the National Psoriasis Foundation, as well as earn the highest possible rating by the Mayo Clinic SkinSAFE allergy rating system.
2. The only EPA registered disinfectant and cleaner to earn the Clean Label Project Purity Award.
3. Proven in 3rd party independent lab testing it’s to be just as effective as the leading brands but with zero toxic chemicals. Our formula is proven to be just as effective as Windex on glass, Formula 409 on grease, Scrubbing Bubbles on soap scum, Febreze on odors, and Resolve on rugs. EPA state info here.
4. A sustainable cleaner that actually saves money. We’ve all had the experience of switching to a “natural” or “green” version of product, only to discover it costs 30% or more than the conventional version. We specifically designed our formula to be budget-friendly and accessible to everyone who wants to reduce plastic waste and the health risks associated with typical cleaning products. It costs up to 80% less per gallon than the top brands.
